Dear Residents around Kellet Avenue, Hampson Avenue, Ashurst Road, Hunters Road and Pendle Road in Clayton le Woods,

We have been made aware of some loud banging noises in the area at 3:31am this morning, the 23rd April which has obviously concerned residents. I would like to update you to what those noise were.

At that time a vehicle parked unattended on Hampson Avenue had its passenger window smashed with a brick and those noises were the sounds of the brick hitting the window. It took 6 attempts to smash the window, then the car alarm activates and the offenders make off.

I am asking for anyone in that area to check their CCTV between 3-4 am on the 23rd April. I believe we are looking for 2 male offenders in dark jackets and a female in a white/cream coat.

If you are woken by such noises in the future please ring 999 immediately.
